Junkyard Joe: A New Comic Series from Image Comics

This fall, the creative team behind Geiger returns to create Junkyard Joe, a new series about a mysterious robot soldier and the cartoonist who created him. Proceeds from the book will be donated to two veterans’ organizations.

About Junkyard Joe

The story of Junkyard Joe comes from the beloved pages of Geiger and expands the story of unlikely heroes fighting The Unknown War. First appearing in Geiger as a cartoonist, Muddy Davis, and his creation, the titular Junkyard Joe, the story is set to follow the robot soldier’s quest to seek out the man who supposedly created him. It is this kind of time-breaking strangeness fans fell in love with in the previous 6 issue installment of Geiger and is just one of the many stories set to populate the Unnamed Universe created by industry vet Geoff Johns.

A Long History Of Respect For The Military

Johns and Gary Frank’s grandparents served in WWII. Their grandfathers both saw action in the European and Pacific Theaters, respectively. As a result, the creators have a great deal of respect for the military. They believe that the story of a robot soldier like Junkyard Joe is essential because it honors the service and sacrifice of military veterans. The creators also want to raise awareness about soldiers’ challenges when returning from combat.

For these reasons, the first issue of Junkyard Joe will feature five special black-and-white cover editions. Proceeds from the special editions of Junkyard Joe will be donated to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV) in the US and Veterans Aid in the UK.

The NCHV is the leading organization dedicated to ending homelessness among veterans in America. They work to ensure that all veterans have access to the housing, healthcare, and benefits they need to thrive. Veterans Aid is a UK-based charity that provides practical and financial support to veterans in need. They work to prevent homelessness and hardship among veterans and provide vital assistance to those struggling.

Mad Ghost Productions will also donate $2 to the NCHV and Veterans Aid for every particular edition copy of Junkyard Joe sold. Mad Ghost Productions is a film, TV, and comic production company founded by Geoff Johns. The company specializes in funny book universe productions.

By purchasing a special edition of Junkyard Joe, readers are helping to support these important organizations and the vital work they do for veterans.

Junkyard Joe Release Date

Junkyard Joe #1 is set to release on October 8th, 2022, from publisher Image Comics. Image Comics has been putting out some great titles lately, and Junkyard Joe looks like it will be another hit for the publisher.
